If he have prepared the place for us, he will prepare us for it. There are numerous opportunities available to bring individuals to their full potential, as there are infinite paths towards achieving greatness. There are many mansions, for there are many sons to be brought to glory. Mansions are lasting dwellings, providing a sense of stability and permanence for generations to come. Christ will be the Finisher of that of which he is the Author and Beginner; if he have prepared the place for us, he will prepare us for it. Christ serves as the pathway for sinners to reach the Father and attain heaven through his divine manifestation in human form, his redemptive sacrifice, and his role as our intercessor and defender.

He is the Truth, as fulfilling all the prophecies of a Saviour; believing which, sinners come by him the Way. He is the Life, by whose life-giving Spirit the dead in sin are quickened. Nor can any man draw nigh God as a Father, who is not quickened by Him as the Life, and taught by Him as the Truth, to come by Him as the Way. By Christ, as the Way, our prayers go to God, and his blessings come to us; this is the Way that leads to rest, the good old Way.

He is the Resurrection and the Life, bringing hope and eternal salvation to all who believe in Him. His presence fills hearts with peace and joy, guiding us through life’s challenges with wisdom and grace. In His light, we find comfort and strength, knowing that He is always with us, leading us towards a purposeful and fulfilling life. Truly, He is the source of all life and the ultimate fulfillment of our deepest desires.

The word used here signifies an advocate, counsellor, monitor, and comforter, embodying a guiding presence that offers support, advice, guidance, and solace in times of need. It represents a trusted companion who is there to listen, advise, and bring peace to those seeking assistance and understanding. He would forever remain with the disciples, his endless supply of gifts and graces bringing constant comfort to their hearts throughout eternity. The expressions used here by John and elsewhere, plainly denote a person, and the office itself includes all the Divine perfections. This indicates the embodiment of complete and flawless qualities within the individual, encompassing the essence of divinity in every aspect of their being.

The disciples of Christ receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, not the world. The favor that God bestows upon His chosen ones is an everlasting gift of holiness and joy. The presence of the Holy Spirit will remain with every believer eternally, serving as the wellspring of their spiritual well-being and contentment.

I will come daily to you in my Spirit, guiding you with love and light, surrounding you with peace and comfort. Those who abide not in Christ, though they may flourish for awhile in outward profession, yet come to nothing. The fire is the fittest place for withered branches; they are good for nothing else.

Without the same divine power that originally spread the love of Christ in our hearts, sustaining us in that love, we would not endure in it for very long.

The name in which Christ’s disciples were baptized is the foundation of their faith, guiding their every step and decision. It provides solace and strength to those enduring the greatest hardships, knowing that they are suffering for the sake of Christ’s name.

The ignorance that permeates the world fuels its animosity towards the followers of Jesus, highlighting the importance of spreading knowledge and understanding to combat intolerance and hatred. The clearer and fuller the revelations of the grace and truth of Christ become to us, the more egregious is our offense if we fail to embrace and place our faith in him.

The Gospel of John portrays Christ as the anticipated Messiah and Son of God, descending to earth as a Jew to revive God’s chosen people. However, those who should have accepted their Messiah turned him away: “He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.” Jesus pledges in John 16 to reunite with his followers and leave them three precious gifts: his Spirit, joy, and peace. The disciples were distressed by the idea of Jesus leaving them.

It is within the realm of possibility for individuals who harbor true enmity towards God’s service to put on a facade of fervent dedication to it.

Villanies committed by persecutors will not be absolved by invoking the name of God; true change can only come from genuine repentance and transformation of the heart. Simply using religious language as a shield to justify wrongdoing only serves to further perpetuate sin and oppression. It is essential to truly reflect on one’s actions and seek forgiveness from those who have been harmed, rather than hiding behind empty words of piety. The true essence of faith lies in humility, compassion, and accountability, not in superficial gestures or empty rituals.

Just as Jesus found purpose and fulfillment in his suffering through the fulfillment of Scripture, his followers can also draw strength and meaning from their own trials by turning to the wisdom and guidance found in the sacred texts. He did not inform them earlier, as his presence was sufficient for teaching, guiding, and comforting them; at that time, they did not require the assurance of the Holy Spirit’s companionship. Silence will fall upon us when we question the origins of our troubles. It will bring us peace to question their destination, as we are certain that their efforts are always aimed at benefiting others. It is essential for melancholy Christians to remember that amidst the clouds of sadness, there is always a ray of joy and gladness waiting to be embraced. It is a common mistake to focus solely on the darkness and ignore the whispers of happiness that surround us. Embracing both the shadows and the light is crucial in finding peace and contentment in our hearts.

The disciples’ overwhelming attachment to the pleasures and comforts of this earthly existence caused deep sorrow in their hearts. Their excessive love for the temporary joys of this present life blinded them to the eternal and spiritual truths of their faith, leading to a profound sense of loss and longing for something greater beyond the material world. Nothing more hinders our joy in God than the love of the world and the sorrow of the world which comes from it. The distractions and temptations of worldly desires and the resultant sadness can cloud our relationship with God and prevent us from fully experiencing His love and grace.

Sending the Spirit was to be the fruit of Christ’s death, which was his going away. His bodily presence could be only in one place at one time, but his Spirit is everywhere, in all places, at all times, wherever two or three are gathered together in his name. The presence of his Spirit transcends physical limitations, making his love and guidance accessible to all who seek it. This eternal and omnipresent Spirit serves as a source of comfort, strength, and unity for believers, fostering a sense of community and connection that extends beyond physical boundaries. The power of his Spirit unites individuals in faith, creating a shared sense of purpose and a deep spiritual bond that transcends time and space.

Witness here the divine task of the Holy Spirit, starting with the vital act of reproving and convincing. Convincing is a unique and powerful capability that belongs solely to the Spirit, as it is his expertise and divine mission. The sequence of his ministry is clear: first, he convinces of truth, and then he brings comfort and assurance to the heart. The Spirit works to deeply penetrate the hearts of humanity, revealing the reality of sin and its impact on individuals and society as a whole. It goes beyond mere words, engaging with the conscience and innermost thoughts of individuals to bring about a true understanding and conviction of wrongdoing. The Spirit deeply convicts us of the reality, consequences, irrationality, defilement, and resulting separation from God that sin brings. It reveals the root of sin as our corrupted nature, and ultimately highlights the destructive outcome of sin, which is death. The Holy Spirit reveals the universal guilt before God, while also highlighting the righteousness of Jesus as the Christ. Through Christ’s righteousness, we are justified and saved, with the Holy Spirit guiding us to where this righteousness can be found and how we can attain acceptance as righteous in the eyes of God.

Christ’s ascension demonstrates the acceptance of the ransom and completion of righteousness, providing believers with justification. The judgement is on the prince of this world who has been condemned. All will be restored when the power of the one who caused chaos is dismantled. Through Christ’s victory over Satan, we find assurance that no other force can withstand him. And of the day of judgment. The arrival of the Spirit would bring immeasurable benefits to the disciples. The Holy Spirit serves as our guiding light, not just revealing the path to us, but also accompanying us with ongoing support and influence. Being led to a deeper understanding of truth goes beyond mere knowledge; it involves experiencing the essence, flavor, and transformative power of truth within our hearts.

He shall enlighten with unwavering truth, withholding no valuable insight, as he unveils the mysteries of the future. All the gifts and graces of the Spirit, all the preaching, and all the writing of the apostles, under the influence of the Spirit, all the tongues, and miracles, were intended to glorify Christ and spread His message of love and salvation to all corners of the world, inspiring believers to live out their faith with passion and conviction, and serving as a testament to the power and glory of God’s presence among His people.

It behoves every one to ask whether the Holy Spirit has begun a good work in his heart, for without a clear understanding of our guilt and danger, we will never fully appreciate the true value of Christ’s salvation. Understanding the depth of our true selves allows us to appreciate the profound value of the Redeemer. We should seek a deeper understanding of the Redeemer and cultivate stronger feelings towards Him by consistently praying for and relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, allowing us to form a more intimate connection with our Savior.

The Holy Spirit will always be a source of solace and strength, shielding them from the impact of any worldly hardships or spiritual obstacles, keeping their happiness pure and unwavering. Believers are blessed with either joy or sorrow, depending on their perception of Christ and the signs of his presence. While sorrow looms over the ungodly with unyielding force, the faithful are promised an enduring inheritance of joy that remains untouchable by any external forces.

Where now is the joy of those who betrayed our trust, and the sorrow of those who believed in their deceit?

Asking in Christ’s name demonstrates humility and reliance on Christ as our Righteousness, recognizing our dependence on Him for all blessings from God. Our Lord had hitherto spoken in short and weighty sentences or in parables, the import of which the disciples did not fully understand. However, after his resurrection, he intended to plainly teach them about the Father and the way to him, through his intercession. This marked a significant shift in his communication style, as he delved deeper into the spiritual teachings that would guide his followers on the path towards salvation.

The continuous emphasis placed by our Lord on offering petitions in his name serves as a constant reminder of the profound impact of Christ’s mediation. Through this, we are guided to acknowledge our own shortcomings and the unparalleled significance of Christ’s sacrifice, allowing us to approach God with confidence and humility.

And let us always bear in mind the profound unity between the Father and the Son, as we approach the Father in the sacred name of Christ and recognize the Son as the embodiment of God in human form, bringing reconciliation to all humanity. This oneness between the Father and the Son serves as a reminder of the inseparable bond and divine nature of Christ, emphasizing the interconnectedness and harmony within the Holy Trinity.

The Divine nature did not abandon the human nature; instead, it provided unwavering support, infusing Christ’s sufferings with profound comfort and significance. Job 8:14 (KJV)

14 Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web,

Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works,…. Just as spiders’ webs cannot make garments or offer protection from the elements, false doctrines like the belief in justification by works are unable to cover the sins of individuals before God or provide any real shelter from justice. Placing trust in such teachings is as futile as relying on a spider’s web for safety, leading to disappointment and ultimately offering no real help or hope to those who embrace them, Job 8:14

their works are works of iniquity: both of preacher and hearer; even their best works are sinful; not only as being imperfect, and having a mixture of sin in them, and so filthy rags, and insufficient to justify them before God; but because done from wrong principles, and with wrong views, and tending to set aside the justifying righteousness of Christ, and God’s way of justifying sinners by it, which is abominable to him:

The comparison underscores the uselessness of spider webs, highlighting their primary function of mischief by ensnaring flies and having no practical application in dressing individuals. In essence, these intricate webs may capture insects, but they fall short in the essential task of clothing people.

Their webs shall not become garments. The unsubstantial fabrics which they weave shall not serve them in any way as garments, or be of any real value or utility. Their devices shall not take objective shape in such sort as to afford them “cover” or protection. Their works are works of iniquity; rather, works of nothingness, works that make a mere pretence of being works at all, and are in reality mere shams, impotent and delusive. And the act of violence is in their hands; rather, and it is an act of violence that is in their hands. Violence creates nothing. At the best, it destroys. Their deceptive actions lead to a facade of productivity and achievement, masking the truth of their empty intentions and destructive nature. It is the illusion of progress and success that ultimately reveals the hollowness of their endeavors, leaving behind a trail of deceit and harm in their wake, devoid of any true substance or significance.

The King James Version of the passage has led to some uncertainty regarding Paul’s intended meaning; it is rather verbose and unclear. If you are able to grasp this concept, it has the power to transform your self-image once you embrace a new identity. Understanding it can lead to a profound shift in how you perceive yourself as you evolve into a different version of who you are.

Romans 7:14–20
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am
carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do
I allow not: for what I would, that do I not;
but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that
which I would not, I consent unto the law that
it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it,
but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that

Why? Your instincts and impulses guide your thought processes and behaviors, shaping your decisions and actions. Even though you have the ability to influence it to a certain extent, your impact may be limited in certain situations—enhancing behavior modification techniques and incorporating a variety of additional methods to achieve optimal results—you are never going to completely dominate the physical body.

It is a journey of discovery, growth, and acceptance of its limitations and strengths. Embrace the challenge of understanding and working with your flesh, rather than trying to control it entirely. Embrace the journey of growth and self-discovery that comes with navigating the complexities of the human body.

That’s why you can look forward to receiving a new transformed body in the glory of heaven. Get ready for a fresh perspective as you welcome a new soulful—mental, emotional—aspect into your life. (Rom. 8:23; 1 Cor. 13:12; and 2 Cor. 5:2–4).

Some individuals are drawn to citing the words of Isaiah. 64:6, which says that “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags,” but Jesus is now our ultimate source of righteousness, guiding us with unwavering love and grace through every step of our journey. His presence illuminates our path and empowers us to live with purpose and conviction, leading us towards a life filled with hope, joy, and abundance. Embrace His righteousness as your own, for in Him, we find true liberation and fulfillment beyond measure.

First Corinthians 1:30 says that He “is made unto [you] wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. ”Suggesting that your renewed righteousness is comparable to a soiled rag is akin to degrading Jesus himself. That statement lacks precision and needs clarification. Let’s explore the details further to ensure accuracy in our information. You must begin with the realization that deep within your spirit, you possess inherent righteousness that guides your actions and decisions. Trust in this inner righteousness to lead you towards truth, integrity, and authenticity in all that you do.

Embrace this fundamental aspect of your being as a source of strength and moral compass in navigating life’s challenges and opportunities. Remember, your spirit holds the key to unlocking your full potential and living a purpose-driven life rooted in the values of righteousness and goodness. As you allow your innermost being to shine forth through your soul and your physical form, you will experience a beautiful transformation in every aspect of your existence. The blossoming of love, boundless joy, profound peace, profound healing, and abundant prosperity will flow effortlessly through you, bringing a sense of deep fulfillment and purpose to your life.

So, in this passage of Romans 7, Paul was conveying that without the influence of the spirit and focusing solely on the physical and natural aspects, one would realize the inherent inability to live out God’s will, just as they did before experiencing a spiritual rebirth. The recognition of this truth highlights the profound impact of the spiritual transformation on one’s ability to align their life with God’s purpose and direction.

Living out the Christian faith can often feel overwhelming and unattainable on our own. It is only by relying on the power of the Spirit of God that we are able to navigate the challenges and triumphs of this journey. Remember, with His strength, all things are possible (Phil. 4:13). To truly understand your identity in the spiritual realm, it is essential to intentionally transform your mind to align with your true self. Embracing this renewal process will empower you to fully embrace who you are meant to be in the spirit.

As a born-again believer, you no longer have a nature to sin. Your renewed spirit is empowered to overcome temptations and walk in righteousness, guided by the grace of God. Embrace the freedom and victory that comes from being a new creation in Christ, living a life that reflects His love and forgiveness. Trust in His strength and transformation in every step you take, knowing that you are no longer bound by the cycle of sin but empowered to live a life of faith and obedience; However, there is a law that inhibits the full expression of your true identity. This legal restriction hinders the manifestation of your authentic self, creating a barrier to embracing your innate potential and living in alignment with your deepest desires.

The law of sin is a relentless force that constantly opposes your progress and success, creating obstacles in your path that seem insurmountable. It is a constant battle against your best efforts, always seeking to hold you back and hinder your growth. It actively undermines your thought processes and hinders your mental capabilities, ultimately impeding your cognitive function and decision-making abilities. That’s the battlefield. If it wins there, you will begin to embody the familiar characteristics of your past self. This transformation will reveal aspects of your old nature that may have been hidden or suppressed, allowing you to reconnect with who you once were.

Paul wrote about it here:
“I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”

Once again, it is crucial to emphasize that the apostle Paul is not referring to himself as a wretched man, despite his long years as a Christian. Despite being a powerful man of God in the spirit, when separated from Christ, Paul’s aim is to show man’s true nature as wretched men was revealed. This underscores the importance of staying connected to Christ to overcome our sinful nature and strive towards righteousness. I have also experienced the incredible blessings that God has bestowed upon me. My life has been filled with amazing moments, all of which I attribute to the grace of Jesus.

That’s how Paul answers the dilemma of a man operating apart from Christ by emphasizing the importance of finding true purpose and guidance in life through a relationship with Christ. By recognizing the need for spiritual connection and guidance, individuals can experience a sense of fulfillment and direction that transcends earthly limitations and leads to a more meaningful and purposeful existence. Embracing the teachings and values of Christ allows individuals to navigate life’s challenges with wisdom, grace, and a sense of peace that can only come from a deep connection with the divine:I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

Here’s another perspective to consider: In Romans 7, the term “spirit” appears just once, referring to a state of mind rather than your regenerated spirit. It is crucial to differentiate between the two in order to fully understand the context of the passage. In Romans 8, the repeated emphasis on the use of “spirit” underscores the importance and significance of this concept in the text, serving as a central theme woven throughout the chapter. This repetition not only highlights the spiritual aspect of the message being conveyed but also emphasizes the deep connection between faith and the spiritual realm that is being explored in Romans 8. Romans 8 is full of victory and offers a sense of hope and empowerment. The words in this chapter resonate deeply with those seeking strength and inspiration during challenging times, serving as a reminder that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. The powerful message of triumph and resilience found within Romans 8 continues to provide comfort and encouragement to all who read it, reaffirming the belief that we are conquerors in the face of adversity. That’s the beautiful distinction between attempting to please God through our human efforts and embracing the abundant life found in our renewed, transformed spirit that comes from being born again.

Under the Old Covenant, the Law worked in you, it should have been guiding your actions and shaping your beliefs. Through its teachings, you were able to find direction and purpose pointed out in your daily life, leading you towards a deeper understanding of your faith and shortcomings. It served as a mirror, reflecting your thoughts and behaviors back to you, showing your actual standing, helping you to strive for righteousness and moral integrity.

The Law was a constant companion, pushing you to grow and evolve in your spiritual journey while you felt you fell short, it tried molding you into the person you were meant to become. “all manner of concupiscence” (Rom. 7:8), which signifies unbridled and unchecked passion that knows no bounds and refuses to be tamed or controlled..” So, when the Law said, “Don’t steal, don’t lie, and don’t covet,” The law ignited within you a strong inclination towards the very actions it explicitly forbid you from engaging in. Man required a reality check regarding his moral predicament.

Now, God created you with the inherent gift of freedom, but the realization of this freedom only comes when you recognize the chains that bind you. It is in acknowledging the need for liberation that you truly begin to embrace the fullness of the freedom that God intended for you.

Jesus patiently attempted to convey this important message to individuals who adamantly believed in their inherent freedom. He dedicated his time and efforts to enlighten them on the profound implications of true freedom, challenging their preconceived notions and encouraging them to expand their understanding of liberation. He replied, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin” (John 8:34). When the Law was introduced, our former self, the old inner man reacted vehemently. It resisted any form of constraint imposed upon it, tumultuous in its opposition to limitations. Our old nature was thrown into chaos, pushing back fiercely against the new regulations set in place. The Law served as a clear indicator of your sinful nature, highlighting the need for redemption and grace.

But Jesus said that it’s not only about what we physically do or don’t do. He said that if you’re angry with your brother without cause, you are in danger of judgment (Matt. 5:22). He also said that if you lust after someone in your heart, you’ve committed adultery (Matt. 5:28).

When you tell anyone, “Thou shalt not,” there’s an undeniable inner voice that compels them to act, a driving force that cannot be ignored.“Bless God, I shall!” Even with the promise of a tempting reward hanging in front of you for motivation, the mere thought of rebelling inevitably creeps into your mind. The allure of going against the grain and breaking free from conformity is irresistible, even in the face of potential consequences.

The Law teaches us to be mindful of our actions and words, encouraging us to live with integrity and kindness towards one another, fostering a harmonious and loving community based on mutual understanding and empathy. The Law, in its infinite wisdom, allowed sin to reign supreme over our lives, dictating our actions and decisions. (Rom. 6:14).

The Law revealed our shortcomings and highlighted areas where we fell short of meeting the expectations. The main objective was for us to express our thoughts and intentions clearly and effectively. We aimed to articulate our message in a way that resonates with our audience and conveys the essence of our purpose. because “O God, have mercy on me because there’s evil in my heart!”, has been overheard everywhere. And these efforts of the body-of-Jesus, the one true Church are working, leading to successful outcomes and positive results.

Apart from Jesus, we are lost in the darkness of our own selves, searching for meaning and purpose in a world that offers only temporary satisfaction. Without Him, we are like ships adrift on a vast and stormy sea, tossed about by the whims of our own desires and fears. Only by turning to Christ can we find true peace, joy, and fulfillment, for He is the light that guides us through the darkness and the rock upon which we can build our foundation. In Jesus, after the Spirit we calm the waves. In Him, we discover our true identity and purpose, and we are set free from the chains of sin, fear and despair.

If the Law has fueled your temptation for sin even more, it’s crucial to reflect on the impact it has on your actions and choices. Understanding how external influences can intensify our struggles with wrongdoing is key to overcoming them and leading a more fulfilling life. Stay mindful of the power that societal norms and regulations might have on your moral compass, and strive to navigate these challenges with integrity and grace. If there is no guideline set by the Law, then it is natural to assume that there would be no inclination towards committing wrongdoing.

The latter part of Romans 7:8 conveys this same message. It emphasizes the importance of seeking guidance and wisdom in times of uncertainty and confusion. The passage highlights the need to rely on faith and trust in the journey towards enlightenment and understanding: “For without the law sin was dead.” But then in verse 9, Paul explains the significance of his message in a clear and concise manner, shedding light on the deeper meaning behind his words and providing valuable insight for readers to ponder. Paul’s explanation offers a new perspective that adds depth and clarity to the overall message, encouraging further reflection and understanding of the text. This insightful interpretation serves as a guide for readers to navigate through the complexities of the passage, ultimately deepening their appreciation for the wisdom imparted by Paul.

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Romans 7:9

When discussing Paul’s life, it is important to consider the period when he was free from the constraints of the Law. This aspect sheds light on his early experiences and influences, providing valuable insights into his beliefs and teachings. By examining the time when Paul lived without the Law, we can better understand the evolution of his perspectives and the foundation of his theological principles. In Romans 5, the Apostle Paul elucidated the concept that sin is not attributed to individuals in the absence of a formal Law. This crucial insight highlights the importance of understanding the relationship between sin and the guidelines set forth by moral and ethical standards. Paul’s teachings serve as a reminder of the nuanced interplay between human behavior and the framework within which it operates, shedding light on the complexities inherent in the perception and attribution of wrongdoing.

Such clarity prompts us to consider the broader implications of our actions within the context of established norms and values, guiding us towards a deeper understanding of accountability and responsibility.(Rom. 5:13). In that previous verse, it is important to recall the statement made about sin entering the world through Adam and spreading to all. This concept highlights the far-reaching consequences of Adam’s actions and serves as a crucial reminder of the impact of sin on humanity. All descendants of Adam inherit a sin nature, passed down through generations since the beginning of humanity. This innate tendency towards sinfulness influences every aspect of human behavior and decision-making, shaping the way individuals interact with the world around them. Despite efforts to overcome this inherent flaw, the impact of this original sin remains profound and pervasive in the lives of all who come after Adam.

I can vividly recall the moment it all changed for me. At just six years old, I came to a profound realization that I had sinned against God. Almost immediately a choice was given me by my parents, who while not aware of my sins allowed I did not have to attend Church anymore and sealed the deal with, “I could keep the collection money”. It took forty-eight years, but I finally found my way back to Him, repenting and seeking His forgiveness. The sin nature had been dwelling within me all along, rarely lying dormant and unaccounted for in the absence of Law. Yet, its presence remained a silent force, waiting for the right circumstances to reveal its true nature and impact on my life. The timing of when the Law first emerges is a unique and personal experience for each individual, varying based on their own journey and circumstances. It remains a mystery, shrouded in uncertainty. While some religious groups may assert knowledge of the exact moment, the truth is elusive and perhaps beyond our comprehension. The concept of pinpointing a specific time frame seems elusive, with the true answer out of reach for now.

But for most people, there is a point in their lives when the Law comes—they know the good they should do; it is a pivotal moment when their moral compass aligns with their actions, guiding them towards making choices that reflect integrity and righteousness in all aspects of their existence. This realization brings about a sense of clarity and purpose, illuminating the path towards living a life filled with compassion, empathy, and kindness towards others, fostering a community built on mutual respect and understanding. This awakening serves as a beacon, shining brightly in the darkness of uncertainty, leading individuals towards a state of moral and ethical fortitude, empowering them to navigate the complexities of life with grace and dignity. (James 4:17) If they continue to ignore the inner voice of wisdom, the inherent sinful nature within them will resurface, leading them down a path towards the inevitable experience of death. (separation from God).

If you do not turn away from your sins and accept the salvation offered through Jesus Christ, the consequences are grave. Sickness, fear, depression, poverty, these burdens will only grow heavier with time. Without repentance and embracing the gift of redemption, the path ahead leads to eternal suffering in hell.

Some will find this reality harsh.

The Law, in all its holiness, fairness, and purity, stands as a flawless embodiment of perfection. It serves as a stark contrast to our inherent imperfections, serving as a powerful reminder of the ultimate standard we should strive to uphold in our daily lives and interactions with others. Again, because of our sin nature, not only could we not keep the Law, but when the commandment came, we became exceedingly sinful. The Lord knew that the Law would have this effect on us, but He graciously gave it to us so that we could come to a deeper understanding of our fallen state and the need for redemption and grace. Through the Law, we are able to see the depth of our brokenness and our desperate need for a Savior who can bring healing and restoration to our souls. God was basically saying, “You might be surprised to discover that your perceived holiness may not be as genuine as you believe.” Unveiling the truth behind the Law: while it may seem to strengthen sin, it ultimately reveals our need for grace and redemption.

So, upon initial observation, it appears that the Law plays a significant role in bringing back the long-forgotten aspects of one’s inner self, leading to a revival of the old self that was once buried deep within. Some individuals may interpret this insight from Paul’s writing in Romans 7:10, leading them to a reasonable deduction based on his words. And the commandment, which was intended to bring life, ultimately led to death. However, it was the Law that inadvertently empowered the sinful nature to drive a wedge between you and God, serving as a barrier rather than a guide towards righteousness and salvation. Paul wrote, “For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.”

It’s only when we come to the end of ourselves that we find the beginning of God’s grace, guidance, and love, leading us towards a path of redemption and renewal. Embracing our vulnerability and surrendering our egos allows us to experience the transformative power of divine presence in our lives, shaping our journey towards spiritual fulfillment and inner peace.

The Law was given by God to strengthen sin that we could see the light, guiding us towards righteousness and understanding the true nature of our actions. Through the Law, we are able to navigate the complexities of moral decision-making and seek redemption for our transgressions, ultimately leading us towards a path of spiritual growth and enlightenment.

The Law Was Never the Problem. It is crucial to recognize that while the law may not have been the issue, there are underlying factors that need to be addressed. In order to truly solve the problem at hand, it is essential to delve deeper and consider the root causes that are often overlooked. By acknowledging these complexities and making necessary adjustments, we can create a more effective and inclusive solution for all parties involved.

After the Fall, a common occurrence was the rise of comparisons among individuals, leading to a lack of wisdom in their actions and thoughts. This shift in behavior caused a detrimental impact on the well-being and relationships of those involved, highlighting the importance of self-awareness and mindfulness in today’s society. (2 Cor. 10:12)

They thought, Well, Cain killed Abel, and he got away with it. God didn’t strike him dead. So, Cain’s great-great great-grandson, Lamech, comes along and kills a man in self-defense. Afterward, he rationalized that his actions were more righteous than Cain’s because there was no malice.: “If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold,” (Gen. 4:24). He compared himself to Cain and judged that he was much better than Cain, but when the Law came, it made it clear what sin really was. This realization challenged his previous sense of superiority and forced him to confront the true nature of his actions and intentions. The Law served as a mirror reflecting his flaws and shortcomings, leading him to reevaluate his self-perception and moral standards. The unveiling of sin through the lens of the Law prompted a deep internal reflection and a humbling acknowledgment of his own imperfections, ultimately pushing him towards a path of self-improvement and moral growth:
I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Romans 7:7b

Paul wrote something similar in the latter part of Romans 3:20, which says, “By the law is the knowledge of sin.” The entrance of the Law revealed a stark truth – there is no room for ambiguity when it comes to righteousness. In the eyes of the Law, one is either deemed completely righteous or labeled as a sinner, with no in-between. This uncompromising stance forces individuals to confront the stark reality of their actions and choices, emphasizing the importance of moral integrity and accountability in every aspect of life. If you fall short by a hair, you’ll end up miles away.

All individuals are in need of God’s judgment, as none are without fault. It is only through His grace and mercy that the ungodly can find justification. (Rom. 4:5), not by the works of the Law (Rom. 3:20). Now, one cannot help but wonder: Could the Law be equated with sin or is it merely a tool for guidance and justice? This is an important aspect that Paul discussed in Romans 7:7, linking back to the sin comparison in Romans 6:1 and 15. If you truly grasp Paul’s teachings, you may naturally question whether the Law can be equated with sin. However, the resounding response to this inquiry is a firm and emphatic denial. The Law exposed sin, revealing the inner struggles and challenges that individuals faced. It served as a mirror, reflecting the deeper issues at play rather than focusing solely on external actions of wrongdoing.

By shining a light on the root causes of sin, the Law provided an opportunity for introspection and growth, encouraging individuals to address the core issues at hand; it’s discussing the inherent sinful tendencies that exist within us—the struggle of our old self against our true nature. The Law exposed the sin nature as vile. I want to emphasize that actions do not determine your worth; it is the inherent sin nature within us all. I once thought I was destined for damnation, just like everyone else. Even if you could erase your past mistakes and never repeat them, true change goes beyond behavior modification; it requires a transformation at the very core of your being. In light of this, remember that your core is no more tainted than mine –- we simply express it in different ways.

It’s a poignant reminder that our past selves have faded into history, leaving room for growth and transformation to take place.

Why does it even matter that we are not subject to the Law? Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
Romans 7:1–3

Marriage is a sacred union that has lost its true meaning in today’s society. God’s intention for marriage is to be a lifelong bond based on love, respect, and mutual support. It is important for couples to cherish and work on their relationship, rather than giving up at the first sign of trouble. Under the Old Testament Law, if a woman engaged in carnall relations with anyone other than her lawful husband, she was considered to be committing adultery. This meant that the woman was obligated to remain faithful to her husband for as long as he remained alive, as stipulated by the law. This shows how serious adultery was viewed in those times and the consequences it carried for those who violated the marital vows. In the same way that our old self perished, we were reborn and united with a new self.—Christ (Rom. 7:4).

Having both an old man and a new man residing within us simultaneously can be likened to a form of internal infidelity. It suggests a conflict between our past experiences and our current transformation, leading to a sense of inner turmoil and dissonance. Embracing this duality may result in a struggle to find harmony and alignment in our thoughts, emotions, and actions. It is only through introspection and reconciliation that we can truly integrate our past and present selves, ultimately leading to a greater sense of wholeness and authenticity in our lives. That’s a profound truth that Paul is emphasizing. It is impossible to maintain a marital bond with our old sinful nature while also being united with Christ. This strong statement highlights the necessity of choosing to fully commit to Christ and leave behind our past ways.

It is essential that the old self be put to death in order to fully embrace the new nature that Jesus offers. This transformation requires a complete surrender of the old ways to make room for the new beginnings that come with accepting His teachings and grace. By letting go of the past and embracing the newness that Jesus brings, we can experience true growth and spiritual renewal in our lives.

You can’t truly experience transformation until you let go of your old self and embrace a new way of being.. The old inner man has had to die with Christ, After being reborn, your new nature is designed to produce righteousness, just like your old sinful nature produced death. This transformation is truly impactful!

So, while you were in your physical body, the Law was at work within you causing death. It had the power to produce nothing else. However, now we have been freed from the law, released from its grip that held us captive; so that we may now live in a new way of thinking and acting, not bound by rigid rules and regulations. Walk in Jesus after the Spirit.
