Teach Kids to Emulate Jesus' Example

In ancient times, a decree was issued for a census to be taken, leading Joseph and Mary to travel to Bethlehem where Mary gave birth to a son in a manger. Nearby shepherds tending their flocks were visited by an angel who announced the birth of a Savior, Jesus Christ. The shepherds then went to witness the newborn baby and shared the news with others, causing wonder and praise for the miraculous events. Mary treasured these experiences in her heart, while the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had witnessed.

They brought him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord. Every male that opens the matrix is called holy to the Lord, as written in the law of the Lord. A sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons was offered according to the law of the Lord. In Jerusalem, there was a man named Simeon, who was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel with the Holy Ghost upon him. It was revealed to him by the Holy Ghost that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. Led by the Spirit into the temple, he took the child Jesus in his arms, blessed God, and proclaimed, ‘Now I can depart in peace, for my eyes have seen your salvation, a light for the Gentiles and the glory of Israel. Joseph and Mary marveled at his words, and Simeon blessed them, telling Mary that this child would cause many in Israel to rise and fall, and be a sign that would be spoken against, revealing the thoughts of many hearts, with a prophecy that her own soul would be pierced as well.

The child grew, he became strong in spirit and filled with wisdom, with the grace of God upon him. His parents traveled to Jerusalem every year, and when he was twelve years old, they went as expected. Leaving the city, on their way back, they realized he was missing. After searching for three days, they found him in the temple, astonishing all who heard him, amazing them with his understanding and wisdoms. His parents were bewildered and questioned him, to which he replied that he must be about his Father’s business. They did not fully understand his words, but he returned with them to Nazareth, growing in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man.

Jesus’ entry into the world was humble and unexpected, born in a simple barn, laid in a manger by Mary and Joseph of meager means. Despite being the Son of God, he could have been born in the most lavish palace to the wealthiest family, some would think that best. However, God’s choice to have Jesus born in such modest surroundings reminds us that His love transcends social status and their causes. In the birth of Jesus, God’s unconditional love and grace for all humanity is revealed. Luke 2:1-20, The Birth of Jesus.

Jesus, as the Son of God, studied God’s Word to learn and obey it, setting an example for children and all through his obedience. In Luke 2:41-52, The boy Jesus in the Temple, we witness Jesus’ commitment to understanding and following God’s teachings. John the Baptist’s recognition of Jesus as the Savior during his baptism underscores the significance of obedience to God. By obeying God, as seen in Matthew 3:1-17, The Baptism of Jesus, we not only demonstrate our love for Him but also follow Jesus’ example of unwavering faithfulness.

Jesus, the Son of God, exemplified a life free from sin, showing us the path to resist temptation through His divine guidance in Luke 4:1-13, The Temptation of Jesus. innocence will come to understand that by following in His footsteps and abiding by His teachings from the Bible, they also have the opportunity to become His disciples, just like the 12 men who devotedly followed Him during His earthly ministry in Mark 1:16-20, Calling of First Disciples.

During His ministry, Jesus preached about living differently and how God forgives our sins through belief in Him. In one sermon, Jesus emphasized that we can never earn our way to heaven through good deeds. Matthew 5:1-16, The Sermon on the Mount People can learn from His teachings and identify changes they can make in their lives. In another powerful moment, Jesus calmed a storm that threatened His disciples. This shows His strength and the trust we can have in Him to help us through any problem. A child can think of something they want to ask God for help with, just like the disciples did in the storm. Mark 4:35-41, Jesus Calms the Storm

PRAY; I WILL FOLLOW JESUS' EXAMPLE IN LOVE AND CARE.

“Father, In Jesus’ name we pray, we humbly seek your divine guidance in your teachings to help us stay true to your Word,  faithfully exhibiting compassion and kindness towards others,  by our example in action caring just as Jesus did during his time on Earth.”
Amen.

UNVEILING DIVINE MYSTERIES

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”, john 14

I thank God for the grace given to you by Jesus Christ, enriching you in all utterance and knowledge, confirming the testimony of Christ in you. May you lack no gift, eagerly awaiting the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will keep you blameless until the end. God is faithful, calling you to fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1

Do not doubt that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me. The words I speak are not my own, but the Father who dwells in me performs the works. Believe that I am in the Father, or believe based on the works you see. Those who believe in me will also perform the works I do, and even greater works, as I go to my Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do so the Father may be glorified. If you love me, keep my commandments. I will pray to the Father, who will give you another Comforter to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive but you know, for he dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you alone; I will come to you.
I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you. John 14:10-18
19-31
In a little while, the world won’t see me but you will, because I live, you will live too. When you follow my commandments, you show love for me, and in return, you will be loved by my Father. I will also love you and reveal myself to you. If you love me, you will keep my words, and my Father will love you, and we will come to you and make our home with you. The Comforter, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said. I leave you with peace, not as the world gives, so do not be troubled or afraid. I go to the Father, for he is greater than me, and I have told you these things so that you may believe when they come to pass. I won’t speak much longer with you because the prince of this world is coming, but he has no power over me. I do as the Father commands to show my love for him. Let’s go now.

REVEALING THE UNSEEN TRUTHS

Jesus compares the disciples to sparrows, the cheapest food at the marketplace.(Leviticus 1:14).

Despite their small and inconsequential nature, God sees and knows the sparrows, offering assurance that He also knows His followers.

Is Christ Divided

Is Christ Divided

BLAMELESS ON THE DAY OF THE LORD

1 Corinthians 1:13
Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
Is Christ divided? Has Christ been parcelled into fragments? Whether you call yourselves Liberals, Intellectualists, Catholics, or Bible Christians, your party spirit is a sin, pranking itself out in the guise of religious zeal. Was Paul crucified for you? This rebukes partisanship and shows courage and honesty. The question posed reflects astonishment and indignation, emphasizing the vast separation between Corinth and his Lord. St. Paul denounces the spirit of party without choosing sides, refusing to cater to sectarianism. If someone preaches about a different Jesus, a different spirit, or a different gospel than what has been taught to you, it is important to be aware and stay true to the teachings you have accepted. Stay vigilant and discerning in your beliefs to avoid being led astray by false teachings.

Unveiling the Meaning of 1 Corinthians Chapter 1

First Corinthians is a practical book in the New Testament, written by Paul to a church in a city known for trade, corruption, and immorality. The believers in this church struggle with applying spiritual gifts and resisting the cultural practices around them. Paul’s letter addresses real-life issues like marriage and spirituality, emphasizing unity and showcasing a famous description of love in chapter 13.
First Corinthians 1 marks the beginning of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians in bustling Corinth, a city along a major trade route. Paul, who spent considerable time establishing the church in Corinth, writes from Ephesus to address their various issues, offering guidance and correction. Despite expressing gratitude for God’s grace upon the Corinthians, Paul urges them to set aside division and come together in unity through Christ.
In his customary greeting to the Corinthians, Paul introduces himself and Sosthenes, who is by his side in Ephesus. The recipients of the letter are the members of God’s church in Corinth, who are described as sanctified and called to be saints alongside all believers. Paul extends grace and peace to them from God the Father and Christ.

UNIFYING FAITH: CHRIST OUR LORD

Paul’s letters adhere to the standard introductions of his time. Having already established his identity in the preceding verse, he now clarifies the intended recipients of his letter while incorporating profound theological insights relevant to all believers. Addressing the thriving community of God’s church in Corinth, a bustling city along a significant trade route, Paul’s familiarity with the Corinthians and their context is evident, having played a pivotal role in the introduction and growth of Christianity in the region during an extended period of service.
Paul emphasizes the unique status of Christians who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, set apart by God for His divine purposes. This sanctification is not achieved through personal merit but comes through grace and faith in Christ. Furthermore, Paul underscores the unity of all believers across different locations, forming the universal church of those who call on Jesus’ name. This collective body of saints is called to live out their faith in communion with one another, reflecting the diverse yet unified nature of the Christian community worldwide.
Paul’s letter to the Christians in Corinth expresses gratitude for the gifts given by God through faith in Christ. He urges them to unite around Christ instead of dividing over different teachers. Though the message of Christ’s death may seem weak to the world, those who believe find God’s power and wisdom.

God's Grace for the Corinthians

Paul, who is writing from Ephesus to the church in Corinth, is addressing some issues of concern within the congregation. Having spent a significant amount of time in Corinth, Paul is familiar with the community and their struggles. Through this letter, he aims to guide them in correcting their attitudes and behaviors while also responding to their inquiries with wisdom and clarity.
In his letter to the Christians in Corinth, Paul expresses gratitude to God for all He has done for them, affirming the genuineness of their faith through the gifts they have received. Paul assures them that God has provided them with everything they need, and because they are in Christ, they will be blameless before God on the day of the Lord. Christ will sustain them until that day, as they have been sanctified and called into fellowship with Christ (1 Corinthians 1:1–9).
Paul addresses the issue of division among the Corinthians, urging them to unite and focus on Christ rather than on individual human leaders they follow. They were baptized in the name of Jesus, not Paul, and should not let their faith be defined by allegiance to a specific teacher. Paul emphasizes the importance of unity in faith and agreement among believers in striving for a common purpose (1 Corinthians 1:10–17).
Paul emphasizes that preaching the gospel does not require eloquent or wise-sounding words, as it could detract from the power of the message of the cross. While some may find the concept of a crucified Messiah or deity absurd, those who believe see the cross as the ultimate representation of God’s power and salvation. It is crucial to understand and accept the true essence of the cross, rather than trying to dress it up with fancy rhetoric in order to persuade others to believe.
For the Jewish people, the concept of the Messiah being killed on a Roman cross was deeply offensive, as they anticipated a leader who would bring about a new era of freedom and power through miraculous signs. Similarly, the Greeks, who valued wisdom and logic, viewed the idea of a god sacrificing his own son as foolish and weak, contrasting with their beliefs in a supreme deity (1 Corinthians 1:22–25).
Paul demonstrates that God delights in saving those who embrace the “weak and foolish” gospel of Christ crucified. By intentionally selecting those considered weak and foolish by society to believe in the “weak and foolish” gospel of Jesus, God will ultimately humiliate the perceived wisdom and power of the high-status individuals who have rejected faith in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:26–31).

Sanctified Through Christ

Paul, in his letter to the Christians in Corinth, expresses gratitude to God for them before addressing the need for correction in their actions and attitudes. He emphasizes that they are already sanctified in Christ and have received God’s grace. Additionally, he highlights that through God’s grace, they have been enriched in Christ in both speech and knowledge. The term “speech” may signify speaking in tongues or the ability to communicate ideas about Christ effectively, a valued skill in the culture of the time.

Divine Favor

By the grace of God and in Christ, the Christians in Corinth were enriched in knowledge, understanding the teachings of Paul thoroughly. However, abundance in speech and knowledge does not always equate to richness in love and faithfulness to God, which Paul acknowledges and appreciates. First Corinthians 1:4–9 speaks of God’s grace to the Corinthians. This assurance means that Christ will uphold them until the end, standing blameless before God on the day of the Lord due to His sacrifice for their sins.

Divine Blessings

Paul expresses gratitude for God’s grace bestowed upon the Christians in Corinth, acknowledging their enrichment in speech and knowledge. He affirms that their belief in Christ is evident through their actions, confirming the truth of his teachings. The manifestation of God’s grace in their lives through faith in Christ is unmistakable, as reflected in their speech, knowledge, and other spiritual gifts received.

God on the day of the Lord

In order to build a strong community of believers, unity and collaboration are essential ingredients. Just as Paul addressed the issues in the Corinthian church with grace and gratitude, we too must remember to focus on our shared faith in Christ and work together towards a common goal. Through unity and collaboration, we can overcome spiritual errors and grow stronger in our relationship with God. Let’s strive to support and uplift one another as we journey together in faith.

The primary message of 1 Corinthians is the generations—followers of Jesus are held to a standard of integrity and morality as we seek to represent His new way of life in Spirit to our communities.

I CORINTHIANS
6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
10:23, 31
All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.
13:13
But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
14:40
But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner.
15:3-4
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
15:33
Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
16:13-14
Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love

Christ will sustain them until that day

Although facing challenges, individuals have not been left lacking by God. Paul reassures them that being in Christ means they will be faultless before God on the day of the Lord, with Christ supporting them until then. They have been made holy and are invited to share in the fellowship of Christ.
(1 Corinthians 1:1–9).
Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Acts 2:38
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Dominion of Sin

THE EPITOME OF EXCELLENCE

In 1 Corinthians 12, spiritual gifts are distributed by the Holy Spirit, with each Christian receiving a unique gift. In Chapter 13, we find that all Christians share three gifts: faith, hope, and love, which are highlighted in verse 13 as enduring qualities. Paul’s use of the singular for the three subjects of faith, hope, and love in 1 Corinthians 13:13 emphasizes the unity of these virtues, showing that they are interconnected and everlasting. This verse serves as a reminder to believers that while these gifts are essential, the greatest of them all is love, which encompasses and surpasses both faith and hope in its power to transform lives and bring about unity within the community of believers.
The enduring nature of faith, hope, and love is emphasized over temporary gifts that will fade away, highlighting the importance of love as the most excellent way. The foundational gifts of faith, hope, and love are permanent and more valuable than fleeting abilities. The Holy Spirit gives us spiritual gifts not for personal gain, but for the common good of the church, enabling us to build up the church and serve others. Some spiritual gifts, like tongues and prophecy, are given as signs for unbelievers, revealing God’s glory through supernatural displays. These gifts are bestowed upon us by the Holy Spirit for His glory and our benefit, with various spiritual gifts listed in the Bible for His purpose and our good.
Faith, hope, and love are eternal gifts that will endure throughout all ages. Love, rooted in God’s nature, is unending, while faith and hope will continue to grow in the eternal state, guiding us towards infinite progression and unseen glories. These three gifts will be ours for eternity, with agape love standing as the ultimate gift bestowed upon us by God.

Agape love, as translated from the Greek word, is distinct from other forms of love found in the New Testament. It embodies goodwill, benevolence, and a deliberate joy in the object of affection. Unlike the English term “love,” agape does not pertain to romance or physical intimacy. It also differs from friendship or brotherly love, represented by the Greek word philia.

Agape love entails loyalty, dedication, and a conscious choice. Its moral integrity and resolute nature set it apart from other expressions of love, as eloquently expressed in 1 Corinthians 13.

1 Corinthians 12:13

“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”

Through baptism, all believers are united in one Body through Christ’s immersion. We not only partake in Christ’s crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension, but also in His embodiment. Each believer is endowed with spiritual gifts by the Spirit for the benefit of the church, likened to a human body where each gifted function represents an essential body part.

Paul lists the following spiritual gifts: word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, distinguishing spirits, various kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues.

If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear! Jesus teaches us that we are shaped by our thoughts, not just by what we consume. Proverbs 23:7 supports this by stating, “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Our self-perception may not always align with reality, but our thoughts ultimately define who we are.

Proverbs 23:7

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.”

What you see in this verse is a person who is saying one thing with their mouth—but their heart is in a completely different place. When faced with this conundrum, which one do you believe? You believe what’s in the heart. The thoughts and inclinations of the heart shape the reality of who you are.

By reshaping one’s thoughts, an individual has the power to mold their character and shape their life’s circumstances. The ability to alter one’s mindset opens the door to transforming the very fabric of one’s existence, leading to a path of growth, success, and fulfillment.

Through the intentional choice to shift one’s perspective, a world of endless possibilities emerges, allowing for the creation of a reality that aligns with one’s deepest desires and aspirations. Embracing this truth empowers individuals to navigate life’s challenges with resilience, determination, and unwavering positivity, ultimately paving the way for a future filled with abundance and joy.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit

You In Jesus are Baptized in the Spirit

Do not conform to the ways of this world, but instead, allow your mind to be renewed, enabling you to better understand and follow the will of God, which is good, acceptable, and perfect. Jesus teaches us that our thoughts shape who we are more than anything else, as affirmed in Proverbs 23:7: “For as [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he.” It is essential to realize that while our thoughts define us, our perception of ourselves may not always be an accurate reflection of who we truly are.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
This power that comes from the Holy Spirit allows you to stand strong for the things of God.

What does Galatians 4:16 mean? True love tells the truth even when it hurts. It can be challenging to always be honest, but those who speak the truth are our strongest allies according to the Bible. It is surprising how many people react negatively to the truth, even going as far as to view the truth-teller as an enemy.
If you are a Believer, when we believed in the Gospel and trusted Jesus to save us, we were sealed with the Holy Spirit. The Bible calls you God’s temple because God’s Spirit dwells in you, as children of God, we have the Spirit of God living inside of us.

Praying in the Spirit

Feeling uncertain in your prayer life as a Christian is common. When you’re at a loss for words, the Holy Spirit is there to guide you in praying for God’s will. Remember to seek the Holy Spirit’s help in times of weakness.

It is crucial to understand that praying in the Spirit aligns our prayers with the will of God. The Spirit, being God Himself, has the ability to reveal and interpret God’s will to us. This is why He has been entrusted to the Church – to intercede for believers according to God’s perfect will (Rom. 8:27).

The Holy Spirit inspired the writing of the Scriptures (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20–21) and helps us to understand by interpreting them (John 16:13; 1 Cor. 2:9–11; Heb. 3:7; 10:15).

Poor in Spirit

Having a contrite heart entails acknowledging our sinfulness and brokenness, embracing humility and openness to learning. It involves reaching the lowest point and realizing that only God and following His path can lead to a positive transformation. Enduring being present and honest is a necessary step towards healing, forgiveness, and renewal.
The Holy Spirit can guide your understanding of the Bible through personal reading, interactions with family and friends, and the proclamation of the gospel.

Invite the Holy Spirit to illuminate the message as you study the Bible, and when sharing scripture with your loved ones, small group, or church community, ask for His help in ensuring clarity and comprehension.

Power of Spirit

Expand on the idea of who the Holy Spirit is by seeking truthfully into the characteristics and attributes that define him.

While the Holy Spirit may seem mysterious, he is far from impersonal or strange; rather, he is a comforting presence that guides and empowers.

By developing a deeper understanding of the Holy Spirit, one can uncover the profound impact he can have on individuals and communities alike.

Embrace the journey of getting to know the Holy Spirit, as his essence transcends mere description and reveals a divine connection that brings clarity, wisdom, and grace into our lives.

Born again the Holy Spirit works in your life today.

The Gates of Heaven

Satan is the mastermind behind the distorted teachings on ‘prayer.’ His cunning plan leads believers to seclude themselves, stepping into the role of Jesus in intercession. Hours are spent beseeching God to avert His anger, release His Spirit, and fulfill the needs of His people.
Jesus instructs us to be vigilant for God’s kingdom, where all our hopes will be realized, although much must transpire before its arrival. In the meantime, amidst the impending judgment, loved ones and acquaintances are facing eternal damnation and suffering from illnesses. The path to salvation is not through intercession but through proclaiming the Word, as stated in 1 Corinthians 1:21. We are called not to just pray for the sick, but to actively bring about healing by speaking restoration into their afflicted bodies, as directed in Matthew 10:8.

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE NEWS

We have been misled into thinking that prayer is about convincing God to unleash His power, making us believe that we must earn His grace through our own efforts. The reality is that we are unworthy and will never measure up on our own. Thanks to Jesus, all of God’s blessings are freely available to us. This is incredible news – no more begging or pleading, we simply need to embrace the authority bestowed upon us and receive His abundant blessings.
Discover the true teachings of the Bible on prayer and unlock the power to receive the results God desires for you in this life. Start praying with confidence and see the transformation in your life.

HE GUIDES YOU NOW

The Holy Spirit’s divine characteristics: He is referred to as God, the Spirit of God, considered God, treated equal to God the Father and Son, eternal, self-existent, omnipresent, omniscient, sovereign, triune with the creator, breathed the Bible, helps us recognize God’s glory and will, and enables us to call upon Jesus as Lord. The Holy Spirit is far more than an impersonal force or object—He is God. You become a place where three rivers meet, the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit
The Holy Spirit not only guides us in our daily lives but also plays a crucial role in our spiritual journey, leading us towards righteousness and truth. From guiding Jesus into the wilderness to providing direct guidance to Philip, the Holy Spirit actively works in our lives to steer us in the right direction. While the Scriptures emphasize our responsibility to cooperate with the Holy Spirit’s guidance by aligning our actions with His will, it is essential for us to actively engage in prayer and preparation rather than passively waiting for a specific feeling. By walking according to the Spirit and being prepared for action, we open ourselves up to the empowerment and transformation that the Holy Spirit brings into our lives.

HE CALLS YOU TO YOUR WORK

The Holy Spirit not only leads individuals to faith in Jesus Christ, but also guides them towards a specific vocation or task. This divine guidance ensures that every decision made aligns with God’s plan for their life, even in the seemingly unrelated aspects such as work. Trust in the Holy Spirit’s direction can bring clarity and purpose to one’s journey.

Sometimes the Holy Spirit will supernaturally guide us in the decisions we make. But normally, the Holy Spirit guides us through the ordinary ebbs and flows of life. As you trust God (Prov. 3:5–6), read the Bible (Rom. 12:1–2), and seek godly counsel (Prov. 11:14), the Holy Spirit will gently lead you into the work he has uniquely designed you for, guiding your steps with wisdom and clarity along the way.

Believing Jesus

Believing Jesus

THE CORE TENETS OF CHRISTIANITY BELIEFS

Christianity, with over 2 billion followers, is the most widely practiced religion globally. The faith revolves around the beliefs surrounding the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Despite originating from a small group of believers, the evolution and acceptance of Christianity worldwide are considered by many scholars as one of the most successful spiritual endeavors in human history.
Some fundamental Christian beliefs encompass the monotheistic view of one God who created the universe, comprising the father (God), the son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Christianity centers on Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection, with the belief that he was sent by God to save humanity through his crucifixion and subsequent resurrection. Christians anticipate Jesus’s return in the Second Coming, while adhering to the teachings of the Old and New Testaments found in the Holy Bible. The cross symbolizes Christian faith, with Christmas celebrating Jesus’s birth and Easter commemorating his resurrection.

Discover the Identity of Jesus

Historians widely accept the existence of a historical figure named Jesus, believed to have been born after 2 B.C. The New Testament of the Christian Bible provides much of the information about Jesus, including his birth to a young Jewish virgin named Mary in Bethlehem. Christians hold that his conception was a miraculous event, with God impregnating Mary through the Holy Spirit. Details of Jesus’s childhood are scarce, though scriptures mention his upbringing in Nazareth, his family’s flight to Egypt to escape King Herod’s persecution, and his father Joseph’s occupation as a carpenter. Raised in the Hebrew tradition, Jesus’s early years remain shrouded in mystery.
At around 30 years old, Jesus began his public ministry following his baptism in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Over the course of about three years, Jesus journeyed alongside his 12 chosen disciples, also known as the 12 apostles, imparting teachings to large crowds and performing miraculous deeds as witnessed by many. Some of the most notable miracles included resurrecting Lazarus from death, walking on water, and restoring sight to the blind.

Explore the Wisdom of Jesus

Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew outlines his moral teachings, including the Beatitudes, Lord’s Prayer, and Golden Rule. The discourse provides instructions to his followers, such as the Twelve Apostles, on how to preach, travel, and behave. It emphasizes humility, self-sacrifice, and the anticipation of a future community of followers. The final discourse, known as the Olivet Discourse, delves into judgment, the conduct of Jesus’s followers, and the need for vigilance in the face of impending judgment. It touches on the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and the Second Coming of Christ, offering scholarly discussion on its various interpretations.
Jesus’s Crucifixion and Resurrection
Scholars posit that Jesus likely passed away between A.D. 30 and 33. The specifics of the date remain a topic of debate within theological circles. According to scripture, Jesus faced arrest, trial, and eventual condemnation to death. Roman governor Pontius Pilate ultimately ordered Jesus’s execution under pressure from Jewish leaders, accusing him of various offenses, notably blasphemy. Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem by Roman soldiers and laid to rest in a tomb. The narrative unfolds with Jesus’s body mysteriously missing three days following his crucifixion, leading to reported sightings and experiences with him in the days post-mortem. Biblical accounts narrate the resurrection of Jesus and his ascent into Heaven.
Jesus imparted his teachings through parables, short stories with profound meanings. The core lessons embraced by Christians include loving God and one’s neighbor, forgiving those who have wronged you, extending love even to enemies, seeking forgiveness for sins, recognizing Jesus as the Messiah with the authority to forgive, acknowledging the importance of repenting for sins, avoiding hypocrisy and judgment, and understanding that the Kingdom of God is within reach for the weak and poor.

SACRED SCRIPTURES

The Christian Bible is a collection of 66 books written by various authors. It is divided into two parts: The Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament describes the history of the Jewish people, outlines specific laws to follow, details the lives of many prophets, and predicts the coming of the Messiah. The New Testament, written after Jesus’s death, includes the first four books – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, known as the “Gospels.” These texts provide accounts of the life and death of Jesus, composed sometime between A.D. 70 and 100.

Letters written by early Christian leaders, which are known as “epistles,” make up a large part of the New Testament. These letters offer instructions for how the church should operate.

The Acts of the Apostles is a book in the New Testament that gives an account of the apostles’ ministry after Jesus’s death. The author of Acts is the same author as one of the Gospels—it is effectively “part two” to the Gospels, what happened after Jesus’s death and resurrection.

The final book in the New Testament, Revelation, describes a vision and prophecies that will occur at the end of the world, as well as metaphors to describe the state of the world.

According to the Bible, the first church organized itself 50 days after Jesus’s death on the Day of Pentecost—when the Holy Spirit was said to descend onto Jesus’s followers.

Most of the first Christians were Jewish converts, and the church was centered in Jerusalem. Shortly after the creation of the church, many Gentiles (non-Jews) embraced Christianity.

Early Christians considered it their calling to spread and teach the gospel. One of the most important missionaries was the apostle Paul, a former persecutor of Christians.

Paul’s conversion to Christianity after he had a supernatural encounter with Jesus is described in Acts of the Apostles. Paul preached the gospel and established churches throughout the Roman Empire, Europe and Africa.

Many historians believe Christianity wouldn’t be as widespread without the work of Paul. In addition to preaching, Paul is thought to have written 13 of the 27 books in the New Testament.

CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION

Early Christians endured harsh persecution for their beliefs, facing brutal torture and execution under leaders such as Emperor Nero, Emperor Domitian, and co-emperors Diocletian and Galerius. Despite these challenges, their unwavering faith and resilience in the face of adversity ultimately set a powerful example for future generations to follow.

CONSTANTINE EMBRACES FAITH

When Emperor Constantine embraced Christianity, religious dynamics changed in the Roman Empire. Various Christian factions had differing views on scripture and the church. A.D. 313 marked the end of the Christian ban with the Edict of Milan. Constantine introduced the Nicene Creed to unify and address disputes within Christianity, a pivotal moment in history.

CATHOLICISM

Emperor Theodosius I declared Catholicism the state religion of the Roman Empire in A.D. 380, establishing the Pope as the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Following the collapse of the Roman Empire in A.D. 476, differences arose between Eastern and Western Christians, leading to the split between the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox church in A.D. 1054.

THE CRUSADES: A HISTORICAL JOURNEY

The Crusades, a series of religious conflicts that spanned from A.D. 1095 to A.D. 1230, were waged by Christians against Islamic rulers in a bid to recapture the holy land in Jerusalem. While the Christians did manage to seize control of the city in certain Crusades, ultimately they were unable to maintain their hold. In the aftermath of these wars, the Catholic Church saw a significant increase in both its influence and affluence.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF CHRISTIANITY

The Catholic branch, led by the Pope and Catholic bishops worldwide, is known for its centralized leadership structure. In contrast, the Orthodox branch operates through independent units governed by a Holy Synod, highlighting its decentralized nature. Protestant Christianity, encompassing diverse denominations with varied interpretations of the Bible and outlooks on the church, reflects the rich diversity within the Christian faith.
In Protestant Christianity, a diverse array of denominations such as Baptist, Episcopalian, Evangelist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal/Charismatic, Lutheran, Anglican, Evangelical, Assemblies of God, Christian Reform/Dutch Reform, Church of the Nazarene, Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, Mennonite, Christian Science, Quaker, and Seventh-Day Adventist exist. While these sects have differences in views, traditions, and worship practices, they all share a common foundation rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus.

Thank You Lord Thank You Jesus

The evidence for the existence of Jesus of Nazareth is well-documented and widely accepted, with references by Jewish, Roman, and Christian historians. The historical documents from various writers provide significant support for the life and death of Jesus, leaving little doubt about his existence. The question remains, for you to ponder, whether Jesus truly died and lived beyond mere historical facts.

Romans 8:1-4

A Message of Hope and Redemption

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Jesus, because through Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. This freedom comes from God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering, thus condemning sin in the flesh. As a result, the righteous requirement of the law is fully met in us, as we choose to live according to the Spirit rather than the flesh.

This passage reminds us of the freedom and new life we have in Jesus. It encourages us to live not by our own strength, but by the power of the Spirit.

All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. In 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, he says, “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” His word of encouragement shows us five characteristics of a godly man. Be Watchful. As men, we have to be aware of what is going on around us.

DEADLY SINS

Are you grappling with the age-old problem of evil in theology and philosophy? The existence of evil in a world created by an almighty and perfectly good God may seem contradictory, but the debate continues to provoke thought and discussion. Although theodicies and defenses have been proposed to reconcile this issue, the mystery of why evil exists alongside a benevolent Triune remains a topic of contemplation for many non-believers and thinkers. From the free will defense of religion to the concept of natural evil as a means of growth and learning, various arguments have been presented to address this complex issue. As we navigate through the perplexities of the problem of evil, let us ponder the depths of human suffering and the potential for spiritual enlightenment that can arise from adversity and prosecutions.

EMBRACE THE LIGHT WITHIN

In the journey of understanding the complexities of human nature, we must also confront the silent sin of rejecting the divine offer of forgiveness and new life. While the “many evil thoughts” may lurk within us, it is the denial of grace and redemption that truly separates us from the divine truth. Embrace the light of forgiveness and let go of the darkness of disbelief, for it is in this act that we find true liberation of the soul.
Unveil the darkness within and conquer the deadly sins that plague the soul. Pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth – beware their temptations, for they lead to destruction. Seek redemption and find peace in the light of forgiveness and grace.

Shedding Light on the Deadly Sins

…gluttony, lust, avarice, anger, sloth, sadness, vainglory and pride warned against pride, we call it the worst of the “devious sins, which lurk in the heart without us even realizing it.”

On God’s list, the sin that cannot be forgiven is the rejection of Him and refusal of His offer of forgiveness and new life in Jesus. This particular sin is deemed unforgivable as it implies disbelief in the truth of the Holy Spirit’s testimony regarding Jesus, as stated in Luke 12:10. It is therefore crucial to acknowledge and accept this offer of redemption and salvation to avoid falling into the trap of disbelief and denial of God’s grace.

Gluttony, mentioned in 1 Corinthians Chapter 10:31, warns against murmuring and excessive consumption of food and drink. While enjoying food and drink is not wrong, indulging to the point of gluttony is considered sinful. Drunkenness, stemming from excessive alcohol intake, is also classified as a form of gluttony, leading to further immoral actions and sins.

Lust, 2 Timothy Chapter 2:22, Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Against a minimalistic view of the Seventh Commandment, Jesus says, “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matt. 5:28). Flee from youthful lusts and instead pursue righteousness, faith, charity, and peace with those who seek the Lord with a pure heart. Jesus warns that lusting after another person is akin to committing adultery in one’s heart. Lust is a distorted craving for sexual pleasure, characterized by a selfish focus that dehumanizes the desired individual.

Greed, often synonymous with avarice, is viewed as a sinful and despicable trait, characterized by an insatiable desire for wealth. It is defined as an immoderate love or craving for riches, material possessions, fame, attention, power, or anything else that caters to one’s selfishness.

Sloth, goes beyond mere laziness, revealing a deeper root of sin stemming from a lack of love for God and His commands. This negligence can lead to wasted resources, with individuals failing to help those in need despite having the ability to do so. Remember the wisdom of the ant and consider the consequences of sloth in your life.

Wrath,  or vengeance is considered one of the seven deadly sins, defined as a strong feeling of hatred or resentment with a desire for vengeance. This overwhelming feeling and desire for revenge distinguishes wrath from anger that is balanced with reason, which is not considered a sin.

Envy is more than simple jealousy; it includes the belief that another’s excellence or blessings lessen one’s own, leading to destructive thoughts toward another’s good fortune. According to one evangelical dictionary, envy is the “sin of jealousy over the blessings and achievements of others,” indicating that the terms “envy” and “jealousy” are interchangeable.

Pride in Christian tradition, is linked to Satan, as it led Lucifer, once the most beautiful of God’s angels, to rebel against Him and be cast out of heaven. Described in the Book of Revelation, some believe Lucifer battled St. Michael the Archangel and was then thrown into hell by God. This fallen angel became known as the devil, while those who followed him became demons. The impact of pride is evident in both the downfall of Satan and of Adam and Eve.

Sinful pride leads individuals to overestimate their own worth, disregarding the gifts bestowed upon them by God. This damaging form of pride forces God to the periphery of one’s spiritual, moral, and everyday life, placing the prideful individual at the center of their own universe. In the eyes of the prideful, God becomes nothing more than a tool to feed their inflated ego and desire for recognition, ultimately causing them to diminish the role of God in their achievements and take full credit for their successes.

Unlike the healthy pride of self-affirmation, sinful pride disposes a person to think more of oneself than one ought to, with no recognition of or appreciation for the gifts one has received from God.

The danger of pride is that it pushes God to the margins of one’s spiritual, moral, and temporal existence, putting the prideful person at the moral centre. If God exists at all to the prideful person, it is only to gratify one’s ego and sense of importance. Pride causes a person to negate God and take all credit for one’s accomplishments and works.

Although the concept of the many deadly sins is not found in scripture, the sin of pride is frequently warned against in the Bible. In the Book of Genesis, the serpent tempts Eve in the Garden of Eden by appealing to pride and envy, with the promise that she “will be like God, knowing good and evil” after eating the forbidden fruit. A famous proverb in the Old Testament cautions, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18). Conversely, multiple references in the New Testament quote Jesus’s advice on the virtue of humility, “All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted” (Gospel According to Matthew 23:12).
These questions of evil and fault create a problem. The problem of evil, raises fundamental questions.
Seeks to challenge the nature and existence of a loving and all-powerful God in the face of suffering, examining whether the creator and supreme being would permit such pain to exist. This argument is often used in atheist reasoning, questioning to problem why an abundance of evil coexists with a supposedly omnipotent and benevolent God.  The argument posits that if God is both all-powerful and all-good, then evil should not exist. Yet, the reality of evil in the world challenges this notion, leading to skepticism about the existence of such a supreme being. This argument encompasses both moral evil, stemming from human actions, and natural evil, arising from natural disasters and diseases.
What do you think? While some find this argument simplistic, considering cases where removing one evil may lead to another or where a particular evil may bring about greater good. The presence of evil is often seen as evidence against God’s existence, conflicting with arguments, causing many to question why. Ultimately, the evidence suggests a morally neutrality rather than the traditional described God of theistic religions. Join the conversation on the age-old debate around sin, God’s existence, philosophy, and salvation, exploring the intricate connections between human nature, spirituality, morality, belief, and the eternal quest for redemption. Uncover the profound meanings behind these timeless questions that have captivated and challenged non-believers for centuries.

Seeking Redemption in the Shadows of Faith

In the endless search for answers to life’s most profound questions, the dilemma of evil stands as a formidable challenge to traditional beliefs. How can we reconcile the existence of suffering and pain with the idea of a benevolent and all-powerful God? The debate rages on, drawing from ancient philosophies and modern interpretations, each offering a unique perspective on the nature of evil and its place in the world.

From the free will defense to the concept of natural evils as tools for growth and learning, the arguments are as diverse as they are complex. Religious believers have grappled with theodicies and defenses, attempting to shed light on the mysteries of God’s ways and the reasons behind the presence of evil in our lives. Yet, the ultimate truth remains elusive, obscured by the veil of human understanding and the limitations of our finite minds.
