FEAR OF THE LORD LEADS TO KNOWLEDGE

The fear of the Lord [is] the beginning of knowledge
Here properly the book begins, and this is the first of the proverbs, and an excellent one; it is such an one as is not to be found in all the writings of the Heathens. By “the fear of the Lord” is not meant a servile fear, a fear of punishment, of hell, wrath, and damnation, which is the effect of the first work of the law upon the conscience; but a filial fear, and supposes knowledge of God as a father, of his love and grace in Christ, particularly of his forgiving love, from whence it arises. This fear is rooted in a deep reverence for God’s majesty and a profound appreciation for His mercy and goodness towards His children. It is a fear that stems from a place of gratitude and awe, rather than from a place of dread or coercion. It is a fear that drives believers to seek a closer relationship with their Heavenly Father, to grow in wisdom and understanding, and to walk in obedience and humility before Him. ( Psalms 130:4 ) ( Hosea 3:5 ) ; It is a deep, profound, and unwavering reverence for God; a sincere love and dedication towards Him;encompassing all aspects of religious adoration, both internally and externally; embracing the entirety of the first set of commandments, the rituals of worship, and the fundamental principles of righteous behavior, including the moral foundations that guide individuals towards spiritual fulfillment and ethical living.; This essential discipline must be fully understood, as it is the bedrock of all knowledge and serves as the key to unlocking deeper insights and understanding in various fields of study. Mastering this fundamental concept is crucial in building a solid foundation for acquiring and applying knowledge effectively, enabling individuals to navigate complex subjects with confidence and expertise..; it is the cornerstone, the essence, the core, the origin, and the heart of all understanding; without a deep knowledge of God, God in Christ, and true worship in reverence, spirit, and truth, following his divine guidance, one’s wisdom will be in vain and devoid of true value. Knowing God, knowing God in Christ, and worshiping Him with reverence, in spirit, and in truth, according to His revealed will, is the fundamental basis and foundation upon which all else depends. It is the head, the fountain, the root, and source from which all knowledge springs, and without it, one’s understanding will be incomplete, lacking in true wisdom and value.; Understanding spiritual and evangelical knowledge is paramount, serving as the foundation upon which all natural knowledge stands. Without this key element, all other forms of knowledge lose their significance and meaning. It is through this spiritual and evangelical understanding that we are able to truly grasp the essence of our existence and the world around us.; see (Job 28:28) (Psalms 111:10) ;

[but] fools despise wisdom and instruction;
just as before, they show no interest in acquiring the knowledge of God, His ways, and His worship; instead, they hold it in disdain, disregarding it completely, and viewing it with scorn.; especially the knowledge of God in Christ, in which lies the highest wisdom, encompasses a deep understanding and insight into the teachings and principles of Christianity, rooted in the belief of the divine nature of Jesus Christ and the salvation he offers. This knowledge emphasizes the importance of faith, love, compassion, and forgiveness in one’s spiritual journey, guiding individuals towards a life of purpose, fulfillment, and connection with the divine presence of God revealed through the teachings of Christ., for this is “life eternal”, ( John 17:3 ) ; they despise the profound wisdom of Christ, the Gospel, and the divine truths it holds, which are the mysterious knowledge of God; rejecting all forms of guidance and pathways leading to it.; they detest the teachings of the Scriptures, which have the power to bring about understanding leading to salvation; they have a disdain for the preaching of the Word and those who deliver it: this form of instruction, as the term indicates, they reject and loathe; and particularly disapprove of guidance and discipline, which is also the interpretation of it; enduring shame and suffering for the sake of knowledge, a declaration of faith in Christ and his message.; Despite all the valuable insights and wisdom available, there are still those who foolishly ignore it all. They are fools, truly, with clear evidence showing their disregard for the invaluable knowledge and advice provided.; Such fools are those who deny the existence of God, those who believe in a distant creator but do not follow a specific religion, and all individuals who engage in disrespectful and immoral behavior. The Septuagint translates them as “the ungodly,” highlighting the unrighteous and godless nature of these individuals. Throughout this book, “fools” consistently refers to these types of individuals who lack wisdom and disregard divine guidance..

The Alignment of Thoughts

It’s fascinating how the alignment of thoughts,
especially when it comes to important spiritual topics like humility, can sometimes reflect a shared sense of understanding. It’s like finding confirmation in the scriptures as if they were tailored just for the moment. There’s a certain beauty in how certain verses can deeply resonate with us, often revealing the truth that aligns with our current needs or circumstances.

It also highlights how the Word of God, being living and active, has a unique way of speaking to our hearts, regardless of age, background, or even personal struggles. The Spirit’s ability to guide us to exactly the right scripture, and to see its relevance across the seasons of life, speaks volumes about how we are intricately woven into God’s plan.

Sour understanding is shaped by biases, experiences, and even the way we’ve been taught to approach scripture. But isn’t it beautiful how, despite those limitations, God still speaks? It’s almost as if He meets us where we are and nudges us closer to the truth we need at the right time.

The dynamic of working through these different sections and finding which scriptures truly resonate can reveal a lot about how our hearts process the truths in the Bible. I’m excited to see how the other areas will unfold as we continue to explore them! The exploration of truth, humility, and faith is a never-ending journey that keeps revealing new facets!

ILLUMINATING LIVES THROUGH SCRIPTURE STUDY

The Scriptures are not mere words on a page, nor are they the reflections of men’s wisdom alone. They are the very breath of God, living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). The writings you hold in your hands, though penned by mortal men, are divinely inspired and unblemished in their truths. From Genesis to Revelation, each word carries the weight of God’s eternal purpose, His will for His creation, and His revelation of Himself to mankind. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).

It is in this Word that we find the true foundation of our faith. It stands without rival, above all other writings, for there is no greater authority than the God-breathed Scripture. Consider this: when the Savior Himself was tempted by the adversary in the wilderness, He did not rely on His own strength, nor did He debate the devil with human wisdom. No, He spoke the Word: “It is written” (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10). Jesus Himself demonstrated that the Scriptures are the final and unwavering authority. They are sufficient for all matters of faith and practice, and no other text, philosophy, or ideology can stand in competition to its divine truth.

And yet, there is an invitation extended to us all—to become “ready writers” of that same Word, to speak its truth, to carry its light into the world. As the Apostle Paul charged the early church, so too do we today: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). We are not merely to read these sacred texts but to digest them, to internalize them, and to allow them to shape our thoughts, words, and actions. The wisdom sought in Scripture is not a treasure to be found in idle reflection but in diligent seeking, in faithful prayer, and in the earnest pursuit of understanding. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5).

Therefore, I challenge you: Examine your heart and your mind. Are you truly seeking the wisdom that is found only in the Word of God, or have you been distracted by the fleeting wisdom of this world? In fellowship with believers, in the prayerful study of the Scriptures, let us strive to be faithful stewards of the Word. Let us become “ready writers” not only in the telling of what we have learned but in living out its eternal truths. The world waits for this light. Will you carry it with boldness?

Unveiling the Divine Thread of Time

As I ponder the profound significance of prophecy, I am drawn to its transformative power within the church. Prophecy is not merely a prediction of future events; it is a divine message intended to uplift and guide us. It calls us to introspection, to consider how we can align our lives with God’s will. When we receive a prophetic word, it should resonate within us, prompting a deeper connection with our faith and community. The scriptures remind us that prophecy serves to comfort and edify, urging us to grow spiritually and support one another in our journey of faith. Through prophecy, we are invited to explore the mysteries of God’s wisdom and to share that understanding with others, fostering a spirit of unity and love.

It Is Not What You Have Done

It is what you do next!

In our journey of faith, we often encounter the profound reality of our need for transformation. This transformation does not come from our own efforts or achievements, but rather through the grace of Jesus Christ. As we explore the narrative of scripture, we uncover the depth of God’s commitment to His creation and the lengths He has gone to restore a fractured relationship. The story unfolds in layers, revealing how God’s relentless pursuit of humanity leads to redemption and hope.

The framework of Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Glory encapsulates the essence of our existence and the divine plan at work. In creation, we see a perfect world designed for fellowship with God. However, the fall introduces sin and separation, marking a pivotal moment in history that alters our relationship with our Creator. Yet, in the midst of this despair, God’s plan for redemption emerges, fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

As believers, we are invited to respond to this truth. The call to embrace the good news is not merely an intellectual exercise but a heartfelt invitation to live in light of what Christ has accomplished. Our response matters; it reflects our understanding of our need for God and the transformative power of His grace. We are not left in our brokenness but are offered a renewed identity in Christ, one that redefines our purpose and reorients our lives.

The narrative of redemption is not confined to our immediate circumstances but extends to the promise of glory. This future hope assures us that the struggles we face today are not in vain. God is actively working to bring about a restoration that is both personal and communal. As we engage with scripture, we gain insight into God’s enduring faithfulness and His desire for us to participate in His redemptive work.

In embracing this story, we are reminded that our journey is not solitary. We are part of a larger narrative that invites us to dance in the joy of redemption. As Zephaniah beautifully illustrates, God sings over us, delighting in our reconciliation. This divine melody beckons us to share the hope we have found, extending the invitation of grace to those around us. In doing so, we become vessels of His love, reflecting the heart of a God who is dedicated to redeeming His people and restoring all of creation.

The Eternal Nature of God

The Eternal Nature of God
Beloved, as we ponder the vastness of God’s eternity, let us consider how His timeless nature envelops all creation. The Eternal God is our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms (Deuteronomy 33:27). Time, as we know it, is but a fleeting shadow compared to the boundless expanse of God’s existence. In His divine wisdom, He orchestrates the unfolding of time, yet remains unbound by its constraints. As we await the fulfillment of His promises, we rest assured that His judgments are righteous and His timing perfect. The living and the dead, all are held within His eternal embrace, awaiting the day of His glorious return.

Dear disciples, the phrase ‘God is eternal’ signifies that He transcends the very fabric of time. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, existing before time began and continuing beyond its end. For us, time is a measure of moments, but for God, it is a canvas upon which His eternal purposes are painted. The living in Christ and the dead in Christ are united in this timeless reality, awaiting the resurrection and the life everlasting. As we dwell in this temporal world, let us hold fast to the truth that our God is not limited by time, and in Him, we find our eternal hope.
